Don’t Ghost Small Businesses This Holiday Season! 👻

A little local love goes a long way in Pantego, Texas.

Ghosting might be all fun and games during Halloween, but when it comes to our local businesses, disappearing is no laughing matter!

As we trade pumpkins for presents and spooky decorations for twinkling lights, it’s easy to get caught up in the convenience of online shopping, big-box stores, and those tempting holiday deals.

But this year, we’re asking our Pantego community to do something a little different.

Don’t ghost your favorite small businesses this holiday season!

Our local shop owners, restaurant teams, and entrepreneurs work hard all year long to make Pantego a special place to live, work, shop, and dine. And the holiday season is one of the most important times to show them some love.

The good news? Supporting local doesn’t have to mean spending more money. Sometimes it’s simply about being intentional with where you spend it.

Your Holiday Shopping List Just Got a Lot More Local!

Before you fill that online shopping cart, take a look around Pantego. You might be surprised at how many gifts you can check off your list right here in town!

For the person who has everything: Stop by Hank & Ellie or Anything Goes for unique gifts, accessories, and fun finds you won’t see everywhere else.

For the flower lover: Urban Country Flower Company has beautiful floral arrangements and thoughtful gifts that make holiday hosting and gift-giving extra special.

For the LEGO enthusiast: Bricks & Minifigs Pantego is a treasure trove of LEGO sets, minifigures, and hard-to-find pieces. You might even discover something for the grown-up LEGO fan on your list!

For the fitness lover: The Runner is a great stop for athletic shoes, running gear, and expert advice. A thoughtful gift for someone starting a new fitness journey or training for their next race.

And don’t forget about gift cards! They’re easy to wrap, fun to give, and a great way to introduce someone to a local business they might not have discovered yet.

Make Holiday Dining a Local Tradition

Shopping isn’t the only way to support our small businesses. Eating local matters, too!

The holiday season is BUSY. Between shopping, school programs, family gatherings, and all those extra errands, there are plenty of opportunities to skip the cooking and support a Pantego restaurant instead.

Here are a few fun ideas:

  • Plan a holiday shopping lunch date. Grab a friend, browse the local shops, and enjoy lunch at David’s BBQ.
  • Start a new family tradition. Pick a night during the holidays to try a local restaurant you’ve never visited. Fattoush and 2 Compas Kitchen are great places to explore.
  • Fuel your holiday errands. Skip the national coffee chain and grab your favorite drink from Karibu Coffee.
  • Give the gift of dinner. Restaurant gift cards make fantastic stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, and thank-you presents.
  • Treat your team. Planning an office lunch or holiday gathering? Consider ordering from a local restaurant.

And here’s an idea we LOVE: Challenge your family to try one new Pantego restaurant each week between now and the end of the year.

You might just find a new favorite!

Here’s Why Shopping Local Really Matters

We talk a lot about shopping small, but have you ever wondered what your purchases actually do for the local economy?

The numbers tell a pretty amazing story.

1. More of your money stays close to home.

According to the 2025 American Express Small Business Economic Impact Study, approximately 68 cents of every dollar spent at a small business in the United States stays in the local community.

That money helps support employees, local suppliers, other businesses, and the families who call our communities home.

2. Local businesses help create stronger local economies.

A Civic Economics study in Dane County, Wisconsin, found that locally owned retailers returned approximately 47% of their revenue to the local economy, compared with about 14% for major national retail chains.

While the exact percentages vary by community, the message is clear: Independent businesses often circulate more of their revenue locally.

3. Small businesses bring people together.

An American Express survey found that 75% of consumers believe small businesses are essential to their communities, and 67% believe supporting small businesses helps unite their community.

We see that connection every day in Pantego!

It’s the business owner who remembers your name. The restaurant that knows your usual order. The shop that donates to a school fundraiser. The friendly faces who show up for local events.

That’s what makes a small town feel like home.
