In honor of #smallbusinesssaturday, we’d like to thank everyone in our community who makes the conscious effort to support locally-owned businesses on a regular basis.

Larger retailers may not notice your purchases or patronage but the shops, restaurants, and local service providers do. They know you personally and appreciate when you choose them. They may even do a little happy dance as you walk through their doors because they know that you have myriad options and understand that you’re integral to their continued success.

Something you may not realize: for every dollar you spend at a locally-owned business, an estimated 67 cents stays within our Pantego community. That’s about twice as much as when you shop from national brands.

Tax revenue and recirculating dollars add up to huge impacts. In the past year, it’s helped us to replace the playgrounds at Bicentennial, add battery back-ups to stoplights to keep them functioning during power outages, repair and add stop bars and crosswalks in neighborhoods, move forward on system-wide water filtering (coming in 2025), purchase a new ambulance, and complete countless other smaller projects. All of these not only benefit you today but serve to protect and increase your personal property values long-term.
